Assistant News Director

WFAA-TV, Dallas, Texas, a TEGNA Media Company, is seeking an Assistant News Director responsible for overseeing all daily newscasts and the day-to-day operations of the newsroom under the direction of the Executive News Director.  This position will help manage one of the best newsrooms in the country. The chosen candidate will have strong editorial judgment and the ability to lead continuous big story coverage.  Responsibilities will also include leading the implementation of new and differentiated content strategies designed to transform and attract new viewers. We are looking for a positive person willing to elevate and inspire others.  The role also requires expertise in digital content strategies, long term planning, and experience hiring.


 We are seeking a candidate with the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism or related field required.
  • Must possess management experience and strong communication skills in a medium to large market
  • Must possess strong leadership skills
  • Experience with newsroom digital strategy
